No one has died, yet…
I have been involved in almost every technical aspect of theatre, Corporate meetings, concerts, and special events for over 40 years. I have had some wonderful teachers and mentors over the years and now some consider me a mentor. In 2012 while assisting in writing the first edition of The Event Safety Guide I became more interested in overall production safety, not just in the rigging and electrical that I was working with. I also learned more about the overall OSHA rules that governed the work I was involved in and the differences between General Industry & Construction. In addition to the technical design and technical solutions I work on and the project management I try to make our industry safer, so everyone goes home.
But always thinking about this can make your head spin, so to give my brain a break I have been involved with competition BBQ for several years. It lets me use my technical mind and planning skills as well. In 2014 I formalized my BBQ to start a company selling my sauce and rub, which is a very tough market as I found out.
The whole time I was doing the BBQ sauce thing I was raising my son after my late wife passed away from kidney failure. After she passed I put BBQ on hold and recently started putting another competition team together. Who doesn't love BBQ?
I have been diving deeper into event safety and actively participate in ESTA's Technical Standards Program to help write ANSI standards for event safety and production safety.
How can I help you?
